During 3.5 weeks, 12 students learned about the complete pipeline from sequencing to interpreting the results. They gained hands-on experience on WGS (with Oxford Nanopore Technologies), compared different sequencing methods, performed a bioinformatic analysis of the resulting data, set everything into a clinical context, and learned much more!
We were super happy with the success of this first block course of our group (and not the last!), which definitely paid off the intensive preparation time. Sharing scientific knowledge is always fun, especially with those motivated and curious students...
If you are a BSc or MSc Biology student at UZH or ETH, we look forward to meeting you in our block course BIO296 next spring semester!
